Tune in to the Ocean Race Summit!

The Ocean Race is organizing its third summit this month, and what an exciting one it will be! I was honored to be asked as a host, and I’m thrilled to lead the lively conversations on ocean conservation, ocean health regeneration and so much more! And since it’s all happening virtually, you can watch it all happen live!

The Ocean Race is a phenomenon going four decades strong. Legendary sailors have participated and traveled around the world while competing in this epic race. This is an eight-month 38,000 nautical-mile race around the world, which begins in Alicante, Spain, in October of 2021 and finishes in Genoa, Italy in June of 2022.

This year leading up to the race in 2021, Newport, RI is hosting the Ocean Race Summits alongside 11th Hour Racing which funds innovative efforts that systematically improve the health of our oceans and preserve its vital resources. They’re looking to give a voice to the ocean and those experts and advocates trying to restore it through The Ocean Race Summits.

I’ll be chatting with world-renowned ocean conservation experts and advocates about solutions and innovations for the ocean. The goal of the summit is to collaborate, share and work together.

If you want to hear from leading experts like Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, CEO of 11th Hour Racing Team Mark Towill, Earth Echo International’s Philippe Cousteau, Dr. Charlie Wiener from Schmidt Ocean Institute and many more, you’ll be in for a treat! We’ll get to hear from such a wide range of ocean lovers from all disciplines. It’s amazing that The Ocean Race and 11th Hour Racing have created these events where collaboration like this is possible.

In addition to the panels of experts, there will also be eight action labs, where experts and advocates alike can join the conversation and contribute their ideas and contributions on topics ranging from blue technology, ocean impact investment, science communication, Marine Protected Areas to restoring the marine environment. Action Labs will go deeper into topics like intersectional environmentalism, relaunching ocean science, the future of seafood and others. And how interesting does an Action Lab on ‘Who Speaks for the High Seas’ sound?

The solutions and innovations that will be invented on this day will be of huge importance to the future of ocean conservation. We need more collaboration across the world if we really want to make change and protect the oceans, and this amazing summit will give experts a platform to do so. The last The Ocean Race Summits in The Hague was a huge success, and I’m counting on this edition to be just as good.

I’m so excited for this edition, and I’d hate for you to miss it! Most sessions will be streamed live on www.theoceanrace.com, so if you love the ocean and want to know what experts are working on in the field of ocean conservation, make sure that you’re there on September 16th starting 10 am EDT. I’ll see you there!
